Way too soon

I love my Kindle, but the battery that came with it went downhill awful fast. I had to buy this battery just to operate my Kindle, and so far it's working great. I just hope this battery doesn't go south as fast as the original that came with the unit.

Somebody told me a fib. . .
I had one of the original Kindles and left the Whispernet on 24/7 to catch my newspaper subscriptions. I bought an extra battery with the unit just in case. When I saw the Kindle 2 was coming out, I noticed in the photos there was no battery door. This worried me as no battery lasts forever so I called the Kindle department. The representative told me they had so few requests for batteries on the Kindle 1, they weren't putting replaceable batteries on the Kindle 2. He said the problem was by leaving my Whispernet on all the time it drained the battery. Like a dummy, I bought a Kindle 2, and then all of a sudden they started selling batteries again. There was about a 4 month lag between the time I talked to the representative and the time they started selling batteries again, and because I can't live without my Kindle I was forced to buy a Kindle 2, and it looks like the new DX, no battery door at all. I can see big problems ahead for owners of Kindle 2 and the new DX, just a "heads up" folks.

Battery Life Untenable
My first battery, with moderate usage, was good for about 6 months. I had the wireless on all the time and the standby time was acceptable. Once I hit the 6 month mark the battery wouldn't keep a charge more than a few hours so after reading similar reviews I ordered a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement hasn't faired much better. It will only keep a charge, WITHOUT use, for barely a day, then dies. I love the device, but this is unacceptable. Luckily, I can still read my books (but not my subscriptions) on my iPod Touch, but I would still like to use the device I spent so much money for.

Replacement Kindle Battery
I purchased a replacement battery for my Kindle. It works great. I only hope it will last longer than my orginal battery which only made it about 3 1/2 months.

Extra battery for my Kendle 1.
I didn't need a new battery yet but I wanted to have one on hand so I wouldn't have to wait for one to be shipped when I did need it. I use my Kentle every day and some times several times a day. God bless my 2 children for giving me my Kendle 1 I love it.
